Support Code:

When errors occur, support codes are displayed on your computer screen and the Alarm lamp and/or ON lamp flashes/lights.

A "support code" is an error number, and is displayed along with an error message.

When an error occurs, check the support code and/or the Alarm lamp and take the appropriate action in response.

Note

Alarm Lamp and ON Lamp in the Event of an Error

Number of times the Alarm lamp flashes and what to do

2	Printing of the first side is complete when manual 2-sided printing is set.	Follow the instructions on the computer screen to prepare the other side for printing.
	Possible causes include the following. There is no paper in the rear tray. Paper is not loaded in the rear tray properly. There are any foreign objects in the rear tray.	1000
	Paper cannot be fed because the paper feed rollers are dirty.	1070

4	Print head is not installed properly.	1470
5	The print head may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this printer. 19	Trying to start copying before you register the paper information.	Select the paper information using the Paper Select button and press the printer's OK button to cancel the error. To register the paper information (paper size and media type) that cannot be selected using the Paper Select button, press the printer's Stop button to cancel copying, then use the Remote UI to register the paper information and retry copying.
20	A maintenance cartridge that has been installed in another printer is installed.	1724

	Replace Ink in Print Head cannot be performed because the maintenance cartridge is almost full.	1368
	The remaining ink level in one of the ink tanks may have reached the lower limit line shown on the ink tank.	1640
	Scanning original has failed.	3412
	Unexpected error occurred while scanning is in progress.	Press the printer's OK button to cancel the error. Change settings and perform operations again.

10 14	An error requiring a repair has occurred.	Turn off the printer and unplug it. Contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair. Important Do not tilt the printer when moving it since the ink may leak out. When transporting the printer for repairing it, see Repairing Your Printer.
Other	Printer error has occurred.	Turn off the printer and unplug it. Plug in the printer again and turn it back on.
